Abrar murder: Accused Setu sent to jail after remand

A Dhaka court on Saturday sent SM Mahmud Setu to jail in Buet student Abrar Fahad murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akther passes the ordered after hearing as police produced him before the court after end of his four-day remand.

Chawkbazar general recording officer Mazhar confirmed the news.

On October 27, a team of the detective branch of police arrested Setu from capital's Banglamotor area.

Setu's name was not mentioned in the charge sheet, but he was arrested based on confessional statements of the other arrestees, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police official added.

Abrar, 22, a second-year-student of Buet's electrical and electronics engineering department was allegedly beaten to death allegedly by a group of Chhatra League men in his dormitory Sher-E-Bangla Hall on October 7 over his suspected affiliation with Chhatra Shibir.
