AB Siddique files case against Tarique, Fakhrul

A case has been filed against 12 people, including BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, on allegations of verbally assaulting AB Siddique, president of Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad, a pro-Awami League platform.

The court recorded AB Siddique's statement on Tuesday.

The court ordered offficer-in-charge (investigation) of Darus Salam police station to investigate the matter and submit the report before the court.

AB Siddique alleged that a group of five unknown BNP activists cornered him near the Shah Ali market in Mirpur area of the capital on December 6 and threatened him to withdraw all cases against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Tarique, Mirza Fakhrul and several other BNP leaders.

At one point of the altercation, the five BNP men threatened him with death, the statement said.

The case was filed with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masudur Rahman.
