8 Myanmar nationals held with 2 lakh yaba tablets
The Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted a raid near the Saint Martin Island
The Bangladesh Coast Guard on Thursday night detained eight Myanmar nationals with 2 lakh yaba pills worth around Tk6 crores, during a raid at the southern part of the Bay of Bengal.
The detainees are Dalia, 20, Robi Alam 19, Alam, 25, Shafiqul, 28, Noor, 25, Nur-e-Alam, 40, Ali Ahmed, 25 and Nurul Amin, 25.
"Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Bangladesh Coast Guard Teknaf Station conducted a drive in the area near the Saint Martin Island. A total of 2 lakh yaba tablets were found after searching a boat," said Coast Guard Media Officer Lt BN Hayat Ibn Siddique.
He also added that the suspected 8 yaba peddlers, who hailed from Myanmar's Akyab district, were turned over to the Teknaf Police Station.
