8 killed in Faridpur road accidents

At least eight people were killed and 12 injured in two separate road accidents in Madhukhali and Bhanga areas of Faridpur on Sunday morning.

In Madhukhali, six people were killed and 11 others were injured when a truck hit a microbus on Dhaka-Khulna highway around 8am.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. 

Karimpur highway police outpost Sub-Inspector Kawsar Jahan said, "The accident left two dead on the spot and 15 others injured. Among the injured, three people including a minor died at Faridpur Medical College Hospital." 

Other injured people are undergoing treatment at the hospital, he added.

In another accident, two motorcyclists were killed and another was injured as a microbus rammed their bike on Bhanga highway area early today. 

One of the deceased was identified as Sakil Khan, son of Safiqul Khan, a student of Government Titumir College. 

The injured youth is undergoing treatment at Faridpur hospital.
