Police on Monday seized seven sacks of onion of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) from a shop at Oxygen area in Chattogram.

Four people were detained in this connection.

The identities of the detainees could not be known immediately.

Md Azad, sub-inspector of Bayejid Bostami police station, said, "They recovered the onions from a shop. Those onions were being sold in the retail market."

Priton Sarker, officer-in-charge of Bayejid Bostami police station, said they were trying to know how the onions came to the market.

When contacted, Jamal Uddin, regional head of TCB in Chattogram, said, "Onions were selling at a fair price at Bayejid area. But I do not know anything about the recovery of onion."
