7 organisations fined for violating environmental rules

The organisations will have to face legal actions in failure to pay the fine

The Department of Environment has fined seven organisations in Chattogram Tk9.5 lakh for violating environmental rules.

Md Moyazzem Hossain, the department's divisional director in Chattogram, handed down the penalty to the organisations after a hearing at his office today.

The organisations will have to face legal actions in failure to pay the fine, he said.

They had been doing businesses without renewing their environmental certificates, violating the conditions of the environmental clearance certificate and cutting the hills.

The organisations are Ratan Bricks from Brahmanbaria, Mahbub Chairman Bricks, Nafisa Bricks, Shirin Akhter Bricks and Subidpur Bricks from Chandpur, Water Orchid and Khaza Filling Station from Cox's Bazar.
