6th Bangladesh-India JCC meeting to be held online this month

The Bangladesh-India Joint Consultative Commission's (JCC) 6th meeting is going to be held online at the end of this month.

The decision came after a telephone conversation between Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and his Indian counterpart Dr S Jaishankar.

A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this on Monday.

Jaishankar tweeted that the two countries had agreed to hold the meeting "very soon".

"Warm conversation with FM Dr AK Abdul Momen of Bangladesh. Agreed to hold our Joint Consultative Commission very soon. Will continue to work closely to reach the ambitious goals set by our leaders," he wrote.

Bangladesh will host the 6th JCC meeting as the 5th one was held in New Delhi in February last year. At the meeting, Momen and his the then Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj led their respective sides.

During the meeting held on February 8 last year, four memoranda of understanding were signed to further strengthen the existing multifaceted cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

The next foreign ministry-level meeting will review the ongoing cooperation, such as implementation of decisions made so far, including those agreed in the last one.

Security, border management, trade and investment flows, power and energy, river water sharing, development partnership, transport connectivity, culture, and people-to-people contacts will be discussed in the upcoming meeting.
