6,500 sued over violence in Brahmanbaria
Police have so far arrested 14 involved in attacks
Police on Saturday filed three cases against 6,500 people in connection with Friday's arson attacks and vandalism in Brahmanbaria.
The cases were filed with the Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station today afternoon, Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Anisur Rahman confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
"Besides, the authorities of other affected organisations will also file more cases," he said.
Sadar Model Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman filed two cases in connection with the attack, vandalism and arson at the Police Superintendent's office and outpost No. 2 of the model police station.
SI Mosleh Uddin has filed another case in connection with the acts of violence in the Medda area of the district. In each of the first two cases, 5,000 unidentified people have been made accused, while 1,500 in the last.
Police have so far arrested 14 people in connection with Friday's arson attacks and vandalism at various government installations during an anti-Modi protest by madrassa students in Brahmanbaria.
Earlier in the day, stopovers of all the trains at the Brahmanbaria Railway Station were suspended indefinitely.
A youth died and 14 others were injured as students of different madrasas in Brahmanbaria clashed with police on Friday.
