The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has shut down six petrol stations in Narayanganj and Narsingdi for cheating customers by volume.

The national standards regulatory agency has also filed cases against the stations owners for violating the Standards of Weights and Measures Act 2018 by cheating on the customers.

A surveillance team of the state agency, led by Assistant Director Md Abdullah Al Mamun, on Wednesday conducted the drive at petrol pumps in the two districts.

All the six pumps were dispensing 210 millilitres to 1.4 litres of less oil in every 10 litres.

The petrol pumps from Narayanganj include Prantik Service Station and Pradhan CNG and Filling Station, while those from Narsingdi are LN Bhuiyan and Sons, Amin Enterprise, Sharif CNG and Filling Station and Nahid Filling Station.

The BSTI requested the oil company concerned to stop providing oil to the pumps.
