6 killed in Bagerhat road crash

At least six auto-rickshaw passengers were killed as a truck collided into the vehicle in Boiltoli area of Fakirhat upazila on Friday morning.

The accident took place in front of Boiltoli Primary School around 7:15am as the truck rammed the vehicle, leaving six dead on the spot, said Fakirhat Model Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Saeed Mohammad Khairul Anam.

Three of the deceased have been identified as Abdul Hai (55) of Chakshree Bazar area of ​​Rampal upazila, Utpal Raha (42) of Nalda Maubhog area of ​​Fakirhat upazila and Nayan Dutta (21) of the same area.

A passenger named Nur Muhammad has been admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

Fakirhat police have arrested Osman Gani, 20, the pickup van driver. 

Fakirhat Model Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Saeed Mohammad Khairul Anam said, "We have arrested the pickup driver. He was travelling to the Shibchar-Madaripur route with passengers from Satkhira. The pickup van hit the auto-rickshaw on its way leaving six dead on spot."
