6 Ctg shops fined for selling onions at higher price

A mobile court has fined six shops in Chattogram city Tk1 lakh for selling onions at higher prices. 

District administration, Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection and Ministry of Commerce jointly conducted the drive at different places of the port city on Thursday. 

The court, led by Executive Magistrate Forkan Elahi, conducted the drives in Kazir Dewri Market, Karnaphuli Market, Bohaddarhat Market and in Gate No 2 areas and fined Illias Departmental Store, Bhai Bhai Departmental Store, Jalal Store and Makkah Store Tk5,000 each.  

Besides, Maria Store was fined Tk50,000 and Ma Baba Departmental Store was fined Tk30,000. 

Deputy Secretary of the Commerce Ministry Selim Hossain and Deputy Director of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Shahida Fatima Chowdhury were present during the drive.
