Five people were killed and two others injured following head on a collision between a pick-up van and a truck on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Tangail's Sadar upazila early Tuesday.

Five people were killed and two others injured following head on a collision between a pick-up van and a truck on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Tangail's Sadar upazila early Tuesday due to dense fog.

The deceased were identified as truck driver Md Bulbul Miah, Babul Miah, 32, Sobahan, 34, Nazrul Islam, 35 and Riad Miah, 30, hailing from Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district.  

The accident took place at Gharinda Bypass area around 4:30 am when the vegetable-laden truck collided with the pick-up van, leaving four dead on the spot and three others injured, said Ziaul Hasan, sub-inspector of Elenga Police Outpost.
