5 held for spreading rumour over Padma Bridge

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) has arrested five people for allegedly spreading rumour over the Padma Bridge construction.

The arrestees were Shahidul Islam, 25, from Narail, Md Arman Hossain, 20, from Chattogram, and Md Faruk, 50, from Moulvibazar.

Two other arrestees could not be identified immediately.

Rab Assistant Director (legal and media wing) Senior Assistant Superintendent Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan told BSS that five people were arrested from different districts on Thursday night and Friday, and they were handed over to police.

Separate cases were filed against the arrestees at the police stations concerned under the Digital Security Act as they were spreading rumour over the Padma Bridge construction through social media, including Facebook.
