48 Italy returnees sent to quarantine in Gazipur

48 Bangladeshis who returned from Italy on Saturday night have been sent to quarantine in Gazipur.

"All returnees are under observation and they will be tested for coronavirus," Gazipur Civil Surgeon Md Khairuzzaman said.

Besides, an Emirates flight landed home from Italy carrying more than 150 Bangladeshis on Sunday while another flight carrying 58 Bangladeshis on early Sunday from the same country.

Earlier on Saturday, 142 Bangladeshis arrived from Italy who were taken to Ashkona Hajj Camp for quarantine. Later they were released after initial test.

On March 8, Bangladesh reported its first three cases of coronavirus. All of them have completely recovered. However, two more coronavirus patients were found on Saturday.

Death toll from coronavirus or COVID-19 reached 5,833 globally as of Sunday. Besides, 156,396 cases were reported from around the world.
