The government is going to give Agricultural Important Person (AIP) awards to 45 farmers and producers for their excellence in agriculture.

This state honour for successful farmers is going to be the first of its kind in the country. It will be as similar in status as the Commercially Important Person (CIP) award, said an agricultural ministry statement yesterday.

All the AIP award holders will receive the same benefits as the CIP award holders do from the state, according to the statement.

The award will be given under five categories: Agricultural Innovations (Technology or Breed); Agricultural Production/Commercial Farming and Agricultural Processing Industries; Production of Exportable Agricultural Products; Recognised or Government

Registered Agricultural Organisation and Gold Medallists of Bangabandhu Agricultural Award.

The agricultural ministry has asked farmers and producers to obtain application forms from following websites: www.moa.gov.bd, www.dae.gov.bd and www.ais.gov.bd.

The application form is also available at all upazila agriculture officer's offices around the country.

The whole award-giving process will be held as per the Agricultural Important Person Policy 2019, the statement also said.

Interested farmers and producers may submit their applications to their respective upazila committees before April 14, 2020.
