4 killed as truck overturns in Rangpur

Four labourers were killed and four others injured when a truck carrying rods overturned in Rangpur's Taraganj.

The deceased are - Abu Bakkar, 65, Khayrat Hossain, 40, Olin, 65 and Farhad Ali, 20. All hailed from Dolarpara village of Sardarkusha union of the upazila.

Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Officer-in-Charge of Taraganj Highway Police Station Golam Kibria said, "A truck carrying rods overturned at noon in Anantapur area of Taraganj-Burirhat bypass."

"Two labourers died on the spot. The injured were taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital and Taraganj Health Complex. Among them, two succumbed to their injuries," he added.

Stating that the driver and the helper fled the scene, the OC also informed that all the deceased are labourers. They were off to unload rods somewhere with a truck full of rods.
