4 killed as college gate collapsed in Sirajganj

Four people, including a student, have been killed after an under-construction gate of Shaheed M Mansur Ali Degree College in Sirajganj collapsed on them.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening at Gulta Bazar area of Tarash upazila in the district.

The deceased were identified as Tojam Ali, 60, of Gabgari village, Rashidul Islam, 25, of Bastul village, and Asif, 14, student of class eight and son of Shahadat Hossain of Singra upazila of Natore.

The identity of the other person could not be known immediately, police said.

The locals said, at around 3:45pm, these four persons were standing under the college's gate when it suddenly collapsed. killing them on the spot.

They claimed there were faults in the gates construction as the supervisor did not oversee the project properly.
