4 of a family among 5 killed in Sylhet road crash
The deceased were all auto-rickshaw passengers
At least five passengers, including two children and a woman, were killed on Sunday as a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Sylhet-Tamabil road in Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet.
The deceased were identified as Sabia Begum, 40, her daughter Sakia Begum, 4, son Tahmid Hossain, 3 months, sister Habibun Nesha, 38, and the CNG auto-rickshaw driver Hossain Ahmed, 35. Meanwhile, Sabia Begum's brother-in-law Zakaria Ahmed (50) and his wife Hasina Begum (40) were injured in the accident.
Confirming the matter, Jaintapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Dastagir said that victims were rescued and sent to the hospital.
The deceased were all auto-rickshaw passengers, reports our local correspondent quoting OC Golam Dastagir.
Reportedly, as the CNG auto-rickshaw suddenly hit the highway at Nurpur Ferry Ghat area, a speeding truck hit the three-wheeler around 6 am.
Four people died on the spot and one died on the way to the hospital.
