31 firms to get National Productivity and Quality Excellence Award

The Bangladesh Employers Federation and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry were named for the Institutional Appreciation Award 2019

The Ministry of Industries has nominated 31 companies for the National Productivity and Quality Excellence Award in recognition of the contributions of the industry and service sectors to the economy.

"The award aims to create motivation and encourage the creativity of the business organisations," read a circular issued on Wednesday.

In the circular, the ministry published the names of the companies – from different sectors and sub-sectors – under five categories.

It added that the companies were selected for setting up industries in the private sector, creating employment and making important contributions to the country's economy.

Additionally, the industries ministry named the Bangladesh Employers Federation and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the Institutional Appreciation Award 2019 in the trade body and association category.

Among the major industrial organisations, Banga Building Materials, RFL Electronics and Rangpur Metal Industries will receive the award under the steel and engineering category; Ispahani Tea and Natore Agro under the food industry category; plus Plami Fashions, Universal Jeans and Genesis Washing under the textile and RMG category.

Of the other big businesses: RFL Plastics and Durable Plastic will be awarded under the plastic industry category; Akij Jute Mills and Aiyan Jute Mills under the jute industry category; One Bank Limited and Sonar Bangla Insurance Ltd under the service category; Brain Station 23 Ltd under the IT category; and Hatil Complex under the furniture category.

Among the medium industrial enterprises: Gate Well Ltd is to receive the award under the steel and engineering category, Northern Flour Mills and Romania Food and Beverage under the food industry category, Concept Knitting under the textile and RMG category, and Bangla Plastic International Ltd under the plastic industry.

Further: Packmate Industries, Bashumoti Distribution and QNS Shipping Logistics will be awarded under the category of other; SR Handicrafts and Rangpur Foundry under the category of small industries; Masco Dairy Enterprise and Janata Engineering under the category of micro industries; and Gazi Wires, Keru and Company, plus the Bangladesh Animal Research Institute under the category of state-owned industries.
