3,998 shelter centres prepared to face Bulbul
Officials of Bangladesh Army, Navy and police will work together to face the cyclone, said speakers at the meeting held on Cyclone Bulbul
Chattogram District Administration has taken all-out preparations to cope with any possible situation that might arise due to advancing cyclonic storm Bulbul.
The district administration has kept 3,998 shelter centres prepared to face the cyclone.
The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has started evacuation of the people of the most vulnerable areas to safer places and nearby cyclone centres.
The city corporation officials are using loudspeakers asking people to go to safer places.
Chattogram City Corporation and district administration opened two control rooms to monitor the situation and 284 medical teams have been kept ready, Public Relation Officer of CCC Md Rafiq told The Business Standard.
Previously, the district disaster management committee held a meeting on cyclone preparedness on Friday evening at Chattogram Circuit House.
A total of 349 tonnes of rice, 2,000 packets of dry food and 681 bundles of corrugated-iron sheets have been allocated for the victims in the meeting.
Speakers at the meeting said officials of Bangladesh Army, Navy and police will work together to face the cyclone.
Cyclone Bulbul may cross the Southwest coastal areas of Bangladesh by tomorrow (Saturday).
Met Office asked Maritime port of Chattogram to hoist distant warning signal number 6 and Mongla and Payra to hoist distant warning signal 7 as cyclone Bulbul approaches.
