3 RAB imposters held from Narayanganj

The fraud gang used to extort money from people by threatening them of issuing fake legal notices against the victims.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested three RAB imposters, including a former official of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), from Rupshi area in Narayanganj.

The arrestees are former BGB official Md Joynal Abedin, 27, from Kurigram, Md Najmul Hossain, 27, from Gazipur and Mostafizur Rahman, 29, of Kishorganj.

They were caught in a special drive by RAB-11 on Saturday night, confirmed Major Talukdar Nazmus Shakib, special company commander of RAB.

The law enforcers conducted the drive after a victim, who was threatened by this group, complained to them. 

Fake seals, ID cards, uniforms, jackets and notices of RAB and BGB forces were also seized during the drive.    

During primary interrogation, Joynal said he fled from BGB in 2017 and later, formed a three-member gang.

RAB said the imposters had good connections with local influential figures and public representatives.

They used to trap people by sending fake notices to them with the help of local influential and reputed persons so that people easily believe them.
