3 killed in Rangamati 'gunfight'

Police on Tuesday recovered bodies of three people killed in a reported gunfight in Rangamati's Rajasthali upazila.

"Locals heard the sound of gunshots in the Balumura area on Monday afternoon and informed the police," Sub-inspector of the Rajasthali Police Station Shah Alam said.

Police went to the spot and recovered the bodies, he added.

The further details of the deceased could not be known, he said. Police could not confirm whether the deceased were members of any political party or not.

According to security forces, the deceased were members of the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti.

"If the identities of the deceased are not found, then they will be buried as unclaimed bodies," Rajasthali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mofojjal Hossain said.

The bodies have been sent to the Rangamati general hospital morgue, he added.
