3 killed as picnic bus plunges in Cumilla

The bus fell into a ditch to save the life of a pedestrian on the way back from a picnic

Three people were killed and 15, including pedestrians injured, after a picnic bus fell into a ditch to save a Pedestrian in Cumilla's Daudkandi Upazila on Saturday.

The accident took place around 6am on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway.

The deceased are bus passengers - Md Ramadan, 40, and Shafiqul Islam and a pedestrian Shahid Molla (60).

"110 employees of a Patuatuli Market went to Cox's Bazar for a two-day picnic. Their bus fell into a ditch to save the life of a pedestrian on the way back from the picnic," Daudkandi Highway Police Officer Alamgir Hossain said.

Four passengers were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, while other injured were taken at Daudkandi Upazila Health Complex.
