3 killed in Brahmanbaria road crash

At least 10 people were injured in the incident

Three people were killed and 10 others injured after a bus plunged into a road-side ditch on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on Wednesday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. All the deceased are men, aged from 26 to 60.

Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khatihata highway police station said, "A motorcycle was coming from Madhabpur bus stand towards Chandura bus stand of Bijoynagar upazila. On the way, the motorcycle tried to take a U-turn in front of Islampur police outpost."

"At that time, the motorcycle collided with a Habiganj-bound Diganta Paribahan passenger bus coming from Dhaka. The bus and motorcycle fell into a ditch on the side of the highway," he added.

The OC further said, "The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex in Habiganj. Police are working to rescue the bus and motorcycle involved in the accident."
