3 including 2 young cricketers killed in lightning strikes in Gazipur

Mizanur and Nadim were killed at around 12 pm on Thursday while they were practising in Gazipur Shaheed Barkat Stadium

Two members of the district Under-16 cricket team and another man were killed in separate lightning strikes in Gazipur on Thursday. 
 
The deceased were 9th grader Mizanur Rahman from Jorrpukurpar area of Gazipur city, 10th grader Nadim Hossain from Azmatpur area under Kaliganj upazila, and Riaz Uddin, 55, from Biprabarta area of Jolarpara of the district. 
 
Mizanur and Nadim were killed at around 12 pm on Thursday while they were practising in Gazipur Shaheed Barkat Stadium.
 
Anwer Hossain Liton, the coach of the team, said the practice had remained halted amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country, but some members of the team came for practice on Thursday. 

"They were told to go back due to the inclement weather. I myself left the stadium. However, two of them stayed and were practising amid the bad weather while the incident took place. 
 
Meanwhile, Riaz was killed in a lightning strike as he went fishing in a nearby beel around noon although it was raining.
