Police have recovered three bodies, including a Rohingya woman and her two children, from the banks of Naf River in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.

The bodies were recovered from the banks of the river's Moulvibazar border in Hnila of Teknaf Upazila on Saturday.

Teknaf Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

The deceased were identified as Samjida Begum, wife of Jane Alam and their daughters Nur Shahida and Rashida. All of them were residents of Ukhia Balukhali Camp-11C Block-15 in Cox's Bazar.

Balukali Camp-11 In-charge (Assistant Secretary) Arafatul Alam confirmed their identities. He also mentioned that Alam and another child were missing in the incident.

Quoting UNHCR, Arafat said Jane Alam was leaving for Myanmar by boat on Friday night. "The wife and children died when the boat sank while crossing the river. The bodies of three of his five family members were recovered but two others are still missing," he added.

Hafizur Rahman said, "The bodies were recovered and sent to the hospital. According to locals, the deceased could be Rohingyas. It is now being investigated how many were travelling on that boat."
