3 arrested for rape in Rupganj
Earlier, police arrested three more accused in the case
Police on Monday arrested three people for allegedly gang-raping a ninth-grader for two days after abducting her at Rupganj in Narayanganj.
On Sunday night, police conducted a raid in Khagrachhari Sadar area and arrested them.
The arrestees are Tanveer from the Rupsi area, Robin and Faisal from the Noapara area of Naryanganj.
Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam said on January 9, Chhatra League leader Abu Sufian, along with eight others abducted a ninth-grader at Gandharbpur High School in Tarabo municipality and gang-raped her for two days.
The victim's father on January 11 filed a case in this regard against six people, including two unknown ones, with the Rupganj police station.
Following the filing of the case, police arrested three more accused. They are Tousif, son of Badal Mia from Gandharbpur area, Afzal, son of late Abdul Hamid from Karnogop area, and Abu Sufian Sohan, son Abul Kalam from Rupshi Pradan Bari area.
Among them, Abu Sufian is a vice-president of the Tarabo municipality unit of the Chhatra League – the student front of the ruling party Awami League.
