2nd anniv of Abinta Kabir Foundation observed

The second anniversary of Abinta Kabir Foundation was observed at Ismaili Jamatkhana Centre on Saturday in the capital.

Abinta Kabir was one of the youngest victims of a group of violent extremists who attacked the Holey Artisan Bakery on the 1st of July in 2016. More than twenty people, many of them foreigners, were killed in the terrorist attack.

Prime Minister's International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi, US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R. Miller, Brazilian Ambassador to Bangladesh Joao Tabajara de Oliveira Junior, and family members of Abinta Kabir, were present among others at the programme.

Expressing that Abinta Kabir had dedicated herself to the service of others, Rizvi said, ‘today we want to forget those who have inflicted pain on us but we should remember Abinta as she realized something many of us don’t do’.

Abinta was a great philanthropist and an ethical person who always wanted to serve the underprivileged communities in Bangladesh.  

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R. Miller said, “Foundations like ‘Abinta Kabir Foundation’ are creating a positive impact on society, which takes forward the country towards development.”

Remembering her daughter’s humanitarian works, the co-founder of the foundation Ruba Ahmed said, “Abinta wanted to bridge the gap between the privileged class of people and the less fortunate. We want to continue the legacy she left behind to help and inspire people.”

Abinta Kabir Foundation school was established on the 6th of July in 2017 at Madani Avenue of the capital where at present 80 female students study.
