23 vessels fined over Tk9 lakh

The Department of Shipping fined 23 unlicensed vessels Tk 9,10,000 by mobile court on the Shitalakshya River near Kanchan Bridge on Friday.
The vessels include 20 unlicensed sand carrying vessels, two dredgers, and a passenger vessel, reads a press release from the shipping ministry.
A team led by Director (deputy secretary) and Executive Magistrate Badrul Hasan Liton of the shipping department, conducted the mobile court in the river area and fined them as they did not follow rules of vessel movement.
