BSMRAU celebrates 22nd founding anniversary

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) celebrated its 22nd founding anniversary and the University Day on Sunday amid colourful arrangements and enthusiasm.

Md Giashuddin Miah, the vice-chancellor of the university, inaugurated the events through hoisting the national flag and by paying homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu, according to a press release.

A colourful rally paraded on the main road of the university and ended outside Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium.

A discussion presided over by Md Khorshed Alam Bhuiyan, director (student welfare), was held at the university auditorium at the end of the rally.

During his speech, the vice-chancellor expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for establishing the university.

He said, "The university has been working tirelessly for the last 22 years in local and international arenas, overcoming challenges and maintaining its reputation in its quality of education and research."

He continued, "Established in the name of the Father of the Nation, this university has been making an important contribution in building the golden Bengal dreamt by Bangabandhu. The university has signed MoUs with reputed universities of different countries, which have created opportunities for more advanced research."

Professor Tofail Ahmed, treasurer of the university, and University Grants Commission Professor and former vice-chancellor Md Abdul Mannan Akand were present at the event among others.

Special prayers were held at the central mosque of the university, wishing its success and prosperity.
