The local administration rescued 22 birds and a fishing cat from different spots of Moulvibazar Sadar upazila on Tuesday.

"On information that the birds were kept in different houses in Kanakpur area for the purpose of eating or selling, we conducted drives there at noon," said Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shariful Islam.

During the drive, some 22 birds were rescued from several houses, the UNO said, adding that he later rescued a fishing cat from a duck farm in neighbouring Najirabad Unoin.
