2 policemen killed in Lalmonirhat road accident

A goods-laden truck from Burimari hit their bike from behind and ran them over leaving them dead on spot

Two policemen died as a stone-laden truck hit their bike in Lalmonirhat's Hatibandha upazila. 

The deceased are - Hatibandha Police Station's DSB Sub-Inspector Abdul Motin, 45, and Constable Mojibul Haque, 50.

The accident took place around 3pm on Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway in Khanerbazar area while they were returning to the police station after collecting the list of candidates vying for chairman post in Fakirpara Union Parishad election. 

The goods-laden truck from Burimari hit their bike from behind and ran them over, leaving them dead on spot. 

Fakirpara Union Parishad Chairman Nurul Islam said the duo collected the electoral information from him. Later they fell victims to the accident on their way back. 

Hatibandha Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Ershadul Alam said they recovered the corpse and sent them to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
