2 killed in Manikganj ambulance crash
Ambulance driver Roni Mia, 30, was seriously injured in the accident as well.
Two people riding on a motorcycle were killed when a Jashore-bound ambulance carrying a dead body collided head-on at Bhatbaur area of Manikganj Sadar upazila on the Dhaka-Aricha highway.
The accident took place around 8:45 am on Saturday.
Ambulance driver Roni Mia, 30, was seriously injured in the accident as well.
The deceased have been identified as Abdul Alim, 25, of Dakkhin Pachuria village in Shimulia union of Shibalaya upazila of Manikganj and Dipu Haldar, 25, of Chhoto Shakrail village in the same union.
The bodies of the deceased were recovered and kept at the Manikganj District Hospital morgue. The seriously injured Roni Mia was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Golra Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam said, "The ambulance and motorcycle involved in the accident were recovered and kept in the custody of Golra Highway Police Station. On the other hand, the ambulance has been sent to Jashore under special management. However, other passengers in the ambulance with the body are uninjured."
