The deceased were identified as Dhanesh Sukumar of Gaibandha district and Afzal Rahman of Natore’s Singra upazila.

The gun battle took place in the upazila’s Bhabanipur Bazar.

“Police arrived on the scene at around 1:30am after being informed that there was a gunfight going on. They rescued the bullet-hit duo from the spot,” said Bogura Sadar circle's Additional Superintendent of Police Sanatan Chakrabarty.

Dhanesh and Afzal were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where doctors declared them dead.
