The victims were not identified yet.
Two people were killed, and another two injured, when a train hit a sand-laden truck in Gazipur on Sunday.
The accident took place at around 4am at Abdul Majid railway crossing in Dakshinkhan union.
Rafiqul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Tongi Railway Police Outpost, said: “The truck was stuck on the rail track and later fell in the ditch when a Dhaka-bound Maitree Express train rammed into it.”
“The gateman of the railway station was not present during the incident,” he added.
The two victims sustaining injuries were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment after Tongi Fire Station workers arrived on the scene and rescued them.
Locals accused the station’s gateman of neglect of duty, claiming he is never present where he should be.
