Jashore Police Bureau of Investigation has arrested two persons in connection with the murder of Debashish Sarkar and robbery at his house in Chalishia village of Abhaynagar upazila. 

The arrestees are, Md Selim Khan, 38, hailing from Mokompur of Terkhada in Khulna and Md Nantu Sheikh, 49, of Dighlia in Khulna. Both were arrested on Thursday (20 May) from their houses, said a press release. 

Apart from the arrestees, seven or eight unidentified persons attacked the house of Debashish Sarkar on 26 April at around 2.30 am. Debashish Sarkar along with his wife Ripa Sarkar, daughter Devika Sarkar and mother Minati Sarkar was beaten and seriously injured as robbers snatched Tk4 lakh in cash and 20 Bhori gold totalling Tk1.9 million.

After receiving the news, locals took Debashish Sarkar and Ripa Sarkar to Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex where Debashish succumbed to his injuries.

Advocate Tapan Kumar Biswas, the brother-in-law of the deceased, filed a case against 7/8 unidentified persons at Abhaynagar police station on the charge of murder and robbery soon after.
