Seventeen fishermen have been floating for three days after the propeller of their fishing trawler broke down in the Bay of Bengal.

"The propeller of the trawler named FB Tinbon broke in the Bay of Bengal about 70 km south-west of Patharghata three days ago," Golam Mostafa Chowdhury, president of the Barguna District Fishermen's Trawler Owners' Association said.

"Another trawler named FB Hajera with 20 fishermen sailed on Sunday morning to rescue the trawler," he added.

Meanwhile, the Patharghata Coast Guard Station Commander Lt. Mehdi Hasan said, "The west zone authorities have already been informed as the incident took place under their territory."
