The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday seized 168 sacks of government rice from an Awami League leader in Nandigram upazila of Bogura.

The seized rice was supposed to be sold at Tk10 per kg among poor people under the government food relief programme.

"Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-12 conducted a drive and seized some 168 sacks of rice from the house and warehouse of Md Anisur Rahman, secretary of the upazila unit of Awami League," Acting Company Commander Md Rawshan Ali said.

Among the 168 sacks, 58 were seized from Anisur's house while 110 sacks were recovered from his warehouse, Rawshan said.

"We also detained two local leaders in connection with the recovery," he added.
