10 hurt in Chhatra League infighting in Barguna

At least 10 Chhatra League leaders and activists were injured in a factional clash in Barguna today.

The supporters of recently expelled Chhatra League leader Enamul Hossain brought out a procession and formed a human chain at Patharghata upazila, demanding reposting Enamul.

The clash broke out at around 12pm when supporters of incumbent upazila Chhatra League president Hafizur Rahman Sohag took position at the upazila Awami League office and tried to disrupt the protest.

On information, police rushed to the spot and bought situation under control. Additional law enforcers were deployed at the area to avoid any untoward situation.

Expelled Chhatra League leader Enamul said: "My opponent disperse the procession after attacking the leaders and activists, who stood in favour of me."

On the other hand, Sohag said, "Whatever Enamul and his supporters did was completely anti-organisational behaviour. Enamul can appeal to the central committee for the return of his post."

On October 17, Enamul was expelled for violating discipline of the organisation.
