1 passenger killed, 13 hurt as bus overturns near Bangabandhu Tunnel

Abul Hossain fell under the bus as it overturned, losing control over the steering.

At least one passenger was killed and 13 others were injured after a bus overturned just before entering the Bangabandhu Tunnel on Friday morning. 

Mohammad Abul Hossain, 35, hailing from the Chakaria area of Cox's Bazar, lost his life in the accident that took place around 8:45am, Kabirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Patenga Police Station, told The Business Standard.

Abul Hossain fell under the bus as it overturned, losing control over the steering and collided with the tunnel's railing, the police officer added.

He said the injured were rushed to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital. 

A case has been filed in connection with the incident, and the bus involved has been seized, said the police officer.

However, the driver fled the scene after the accident, he added.
