চীনের ক্রমবর্ধমান সামরিক ও রাজনৈতিক চাপের মুখে রয়েছে গণতান্ত্রিকভাবে শাসিত তাইওয়ান। দ্বীপটিকে নিজের ভূখণ্ড হিসেবে দাবি করে চীন। যদিও এ দাবি দৃঢ়ভাবে প্রত্যাখ্যান করে আসছে তাইওয়ান।
