Bangladeshi peacekeepers have distributed educational stationery, with the Mujib Year logo, among students of Sudan's Al-Kida Girls School, on the occasion of International Mother Language Day.
Ahmado Manna, major general and police chief of staff at the United Nations African Union Mission in Darfur was present at the event as its chief guest. Mona Badhui Abdel, headteacher of the school, and Col Amir, liaison officer of North Darfur were present as special guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Manna said, "The stationery was necessary for the students. We appreciate the gesture of the Bangladesh Police and hope that it will help build a stronger relationship between the two countries."
The major general added that Bangladesh Police is also playing a vital role in the peacekeeping missions.
Masuk Mia, operations officer of the formed police unit, told The Business Standard that the Bangladesh Formed Police Unit is playing a major role in maintaining peace and economic stability in the war-torn Darfur province of Sudan.
