Taijul confident of winning the Test even if Shakib is out injured
With Shakib once again injured, he will have to lead the spin attack during the ongoing Test match against West Indies.
Taijul Islam has been the leader of the Bangladesh Test spin attack in the absence of Shakib Al Hasan over the last year.
With Shakib once again injured, he will have to lead the spin attack during the ongoing Test match against West Indies.
Bangladesh initially found it difficult to take wickets and Taijul didn't have the best of times with the ball taking two wickets for 84 runs before Windies eventually collapsed with Mehidy Hasan Miraz doing the bulk of the damage.
Taijul also admitted that the bowling could have been better, especially with Shakib missing, but feels that they did the job with the ball in the second session.
"Maybe I haven't been able to carry out my job as well as I should have but thankfully we were able to put that right in the second session," Taijul told the media in the post day press conference.
Shakib, who has picked up a left thigh strain, as informed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is a doubt for the remainder of the Test match and that will put more responsibility on the bowling attack but Taijul is confident that they can get the job done with the ball.
"I'm confident we can do well and win the match. But still, this is cricket and you can't take anything for granted. The most important thing for me was to make a comeback to the national team and hopefully we can do good things in the next few days," he added.
