Some media reports suggested that the ICC members had come to a decision that the event would be pushed back to 2022, opening a window for the lucrative, franchise-based Indian Premier League (IPL).
A day ahead of the ICC meeting, a statement from the ICC governing body said, "Reports of a postponement the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 are inaccurate and planning for the event continues whilst a number of contingency plans are being explored in light of the rapidly changing public health situation caused by Covid-19."
The ICC board meeting is all set to be held on Thursday where several issues related to the pandemic and the fate of the T20 World Cup are going to be discussed.
The media release from the ICC also suggested that no final decision was taken regarding the election process and the subject will be discussed further at the next ICC Board meeting on Thursday.
