The director of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Mohammed Jalal Yunus, said that there will not be any official opening ceremony for this tournament. He said that BCB does not want to take any risk in the current Covid-19 situation.
"We will have no official opening ceremony because of the current Corona situation. Our tournament is starting from November 24, the first match will start with the match between Beximco Dhaka and Minister Group Rajshahi. The final is on December 18 and the reserve day is on December 19," said Jalal Yunus.
Although the first friendly football match between host Bangladesh and Nepal saw thousands of supporters at the gallery on Friday, BCB has no plans to allow supporters either.
BCB thinks it is better without a crowd for now.
"What do you think? Is it better in a crowded situation? I know it's a matter of emotion. After a long time the football game has started and the spectators have come there. But we will not allow the audience at the gallery. This is our plan and there will be no spectators in the field," added Yunus.
Jalal Yunus confirmed that the teams will get up at the hotel on the 20th and enter the bio-bubble there. Before that they might practice on their own. But Jalal thinks, the players will not take that risk.
The coaches will arrive before the tournament begins. They will be monitoring the players. Jalal Yunus could not confirm the date but assured that the head coach will definitely come.
The prizemoney hasn't been finalised yet, but BCB will announce it shortly, said Jalal Yunus.
