Mushfiq doesn't let his emotions run high: Frylinck
After his man of the match bout in Khulna’s match against Cumilla Warriors, Frylinck in the post-match press conference said that it is rare to see Mushfiq’s emotions run high and he keeps everybody grounded.
Khulna Tigers skipper Mushfiqur Rahim is known for his animated reactions on the field and he was criticized heavily when he celebrated prematurely in a match against India in the 2016 T20 World Cup. ButKhulna allrounder Robbie Frylinck clearly disagrees with that as he believes Mushfiq is someone who keeps his emotions in check.
After his man of the match bout in Khulna's match against Cumilla Warriors, Frylinck in the post-match press conference said that it is rare to see Mushfiq's emotions run high and he keeps everybody grounded.
"You never really see Mushfiq's emotions run really high and he keeps everyone grounded. It's just a pleasure to play under him and I really enjoy it," the Protea said.
He also added that he played under Mushfiq last year for Chittagong Vikings and Mushfiq provides the team with a lot of information.
"I was with Mushfiq last year with the Chittagong Vikings. I know his style and I know what he is about. He is a man with a wealth of knowledge and his tactics are really really good to each player we play against. He gives so much information in our team meetings in terms of plans and stuff like that and also he can be quite calming out in the field as well," Frylinck added.
Frylinck bowled brilliantly against Cumilla as he picked up five wickets. Questioned about if it was his best bowling performance, Frylinck differed and said that he got five wickets for 16 runs back in South Africa.
Asked about his plan, Frylinck said that he stuck to the basics. He said, "I just stuck to the basics, nice and simple. It was a good T20 wicket and we had to bash on the good length early on. Obviously, it started the worst way possible with five wides but I pulled it back in and the guys bowled really well so I was just the fortunate one."
Frylinck also added that it was tough to get five wickets. He further added, "Bowling in T20s is tough. I got hit for 58 or something like that the other day although I picked up two wickets. The wickets in Bangladesh have been so good that the bowlers' margin for error is really small and to be able to take five wickets is a good effort and just happy that I was able to contribute."
Rilee Rossouw was seen to celebrate by dancing several times in the match. Questioned about that, Frylinck's said that his compatriot had pulled out one of Liverpool footballer Sadio Mane's celebrations.
"Rilee is probably the joker in our team. He is good value and good fun. We play quite a bit of FIFA and that's one of the footballers' celebrations. I think it's Sadio Mane's celebration and Rilee supports him so he pulled that one up," the 35-year old added.
Khulna face the same opponents in their next game on January 10 at Mirpur.
