I would like to have 300 Test wickets: Taijul
"The will and hunger to do well for a player never goes away. Every day, the mind wants to take ten wickets and score 100 runs. But that isn't always the case. But the target I have set myself is 300 wickets in Test cricket," says Taijul.
Left-arm off-spinner Taijul Islam has set himself a target of taking 300 Test wickets and he currently has 116 wickets from 30 Tests so far,
He spoke to the media after day three in the ongoing Test match against West Indies in Chattogram where Bangladesh are leading by 218 runs and still have seven wickets in hand.
"The will and hunger to do well for a player never goes away. Every day, the mind wants to take ten wickets and score 100 runs. But that isn't always the case. But the target I have set myself is 300 wickets in Test cricket," says Taijul.
The 28-year-old recently had a changed bowling action, an action very similar to New Zealand legend Daniel Vettori, which he debuted in the domestic tournaments after the Covid-19 break.
But he reverted back to his old action in the ongoing Test match and explained the reasoning behind the change.
"The new action wasn't working for me in the matches. Not in the way I was expecting it to. This action came more naturally to me so I went back to this," explained Taijul.
