Finnish-born Tarik Kazi delighted to be selected in national football squad

Finnish-born Bangladeshi footballer Tarik Kazi wants to play for Bangladesh national team. The defender's dream may be fulfilled soon as the defender has been called up to the preliminary squad for the World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

Kazi became delighted after he had been selected in the preliminary team. The 19-year old Bashundhara Kings defender expressed his jubilation through a video on his Facebook page.

The second round of 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian qualifiers will begin in October. Bangladesh are scheduled to play their first game against Afghanistan in Sylhet on October 8.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) announced a 36-men squad for the second round. The squad will be part of a camp in Gazipur from August 7 under head coach Jamie Day.

Tarik said in the video, "I've been called up for the first time. I am really happy, it's a dream come true moment for me. I've come to Bangladesh and worked hard to play for the national team. Finally it's all coming together and I am ready to give my everything."

Tarik played for all the age-level national teams of Finland. The defended played only two matches for Bashundhara Kings but is aware of the quality of football here.

"I don't know whether there will be 23 or 25 in the final squad. But I am confident. I want to prove myself. I've been working hard in Finland so that I can join the camp being completely fit," Tarik mentioned.
