Sports Ministry to inquire about Shakib's situation
The state minister said that their highest priority is to keep the player safe from unnecessary trouble
The Ministry of Youth and Sports will send the International Cricket Council (ICC) a letter to inquire about the current situation of Shakib Al Hasan.
While talking to the media, State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Rasel said that he is aware of the situation and he has also asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to be in constant communication with the ICC.
The state minister also said that their highest priority is to keep the player safe from unnecessary trouble.
Earlier, a national daily reported that Shakib might be banned for up to 18 months from cricket for withholding information regarding a bookie approach.
Amidst the ongoing rumours about Shakib Al Hasan facing ban for withholding information regarding a bookie approach, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) informed the media that they have not received any official letter from ICC on the issue.
BCB President Nazmul Hasan said ICC did not inform BCB about Shakib's issue. However, a press conference is expected to be held at Mirpur later today.
