Bangladesh have announced their 23-man squad for their first match of the World cup Qualifiers against Afghanistan on the 10th of September at Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Two weeks earlier, a primary squad of 25 players were announced. Later on, goalkeeper Mazharul Islam Himel was added to the squad. But the rule forbids selection of four goalkeepers in the 23-man squad, and thus one of the goalkeepers had to be cut off and it was Himel. The other players to not make the cut were Manjur Rahman Manik and Nurul Naim Faisal.
Yeasin Arafat, the 18-year old defender of Saif Sporting has made the cut and seven players from Dhaka Abahani have been selected.
Bangladesh will reach Tajikistan on the 1st of September to get accustomed to the conditions before the match on the 10th of that match. The team will also play two warm-up games against local sides FC Kuktosh and CSK Pamir before they kick off their qualifier campaign vs Afghanistan.
